This 2 day workshop explores how recycling and fashion design can work together.
Take a mix of favourite textiles and combine them with pre-loved garments to create a new fashion item.
Includes free cutting, making new pieces of fabric to combine with your collection of deconstructed garments, bringing them all together. Making use of collars and cuffs, button closures etc. combined with at least two stretch and some stripes (reaching into your stash of fashion fabric can be useful).
If you just wish to work with felt, Christine suggests you include some commercial knit or boiled wool for flexible joining options. 4 to 6 pieces of felt approx. 40cm x60cm is a good guide but scarf lengths are great, with similar elements in them, consider the underside of 1 or 2 pieces for roll back collar features.
Christine will bring a selection of patterns for use in the class.
Christine's background is in fashion as well as wearable art. She also loves what handmade felt has to offer for fashion today combining it with other textiles for a comfort fit.
